In 2019, I hit a wall.
I was living on coffee, wine, and willpower. Hustling in my work. Numbing through food.

I tried probiotics, fasts, cleanses and every supplement the wellness industry provided.
I'd do well for a few weeks, get bored, resort to old behavior and begin the cycle all over again.
But on January 26, 2019, something shifted.
I made a decision. That one simple act of deciding to do something different, changed everything for me.
I woke up, after a night of too much wine and beating myself up for yet again, doing something I told myself I wouldn't do.
I stepped into my kitchen. My husband was at work, my baby was asleep.
It was early- maybe 5:45 am or so. The fog was thick, the sky was grey— the weather matched my mood. And in that moment, alone in my kitchen, I prepared a pot of bones, mirepoix, water, apple cider vinegar and salt. I started it early to simmer on the stove all day, while I gathered my bearings and recalibrated.
For the first time in a long time, I exhaled.
My gut relaxed. My mind quieted its chatter. My anxiety ceased its grip.
And that was the beginning of my return to center.
